Where to next?

So you’ve decided that you want to see more of the world than your own backyard. Great! But where to start? And where to go? Travel should be very much in line with your individual values…an enjoyable experience that gives you insight into other cultures, but more than anything a memorable time. Some of the things to consider when choosing where to go are:

·      The season or time of year (is it summer or winter where you are going, is it peak season for tourism or low season)

·      Your budget – obviously throughout this course we will go through this but it helps to have a baseline idea of how much you want to spend/ can spend on travel

·      How long you are going for – a few days, weeks, or months?

·      The climate you enjoy – summer, winter, in between? Personally I do not enjoy the cold, hence why most of my travel overseas is in warmer countries

·      The things you enjoy doing – hiking, relaxing, siting at the beach/pool, adventure sports, exploring cities, etc? What appeals to you the most? Personally I do not enjoy sports of any kind, that combined with my dislike for the cold rules out a lot of snow filled countries. I do however enjoy exploring cities, going to the beach and chilling, doing spa days etc – hence why the countries that appeal to me the most for travel are generally warmer, beach side countries such as those in the Caribbean.

·      Who you are going with – solo, with your partner, friends, family, etc. This will play a part in where you decide to go, especially if there are children involved as there are some places much better suited to children than others (especially in terms of activities for them to do etc)
